Update: Las Vegas remains in a state of emergency with animals due
to the recent crisis at Lied Animal Shelter -- the regional pound for Las
Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Clark County. To help save community
animals at this time of greatest need, please do NOT surrender your
companion animals from your care and custody unless you have an emergency.
If so, please call us at 702-873-SPCA (7722). We will do all we can
to help you directly or guide you to the safest possible solutions for the
animals.
The Nevada SPCA No-Kill Animal Sanctuary always operates at full capacity, so we can only accept new animals into the sanctuary by appointment. To request an appointment, please contact our headquarters during operating hours at 873-SPCA. |

Before Deciding To Surrender An Animal ... |
||||||||||||
| The animal in your home and care, who
unconditionally loves you, is dependent on and attached to you.
Before deciding to surrender him or her to a shelter or rescue
organization, you owe this animal to take every reasonable step to
overcome any problems facing him or her remaining with you.
Southern Nevada is in the midst of its worst overpopulation crisis ever. We receive more than 100 requests every single day to take in new animals. We wish we could rescue each one, but our space and rescources are limited. Below are just some of the reasonable steps you should take, any of which possibly may solve the dilemna that is now threatening the animal's home and life:
In conclusion, your animal needs you! Please rise to the challenges so that your family can remain intact, human and companion animal. Many people seem to decide to discard an animal in a fit of rage or frustration, robbing their companion animal of the thought and care which they require. Please make your final decision carefully, exhausting all reasonable steps. His or her life may very well depend on you! |
