Gift Store Volunteers Needed

We need volunteer help in the Gift Store during the week.  If you are friendly and enjoy assisting people with finding items for their new companion animals, you may enjoy helping in this way.  So, if you can join us on any day between Monday and Thursday between 11am-4pm on a regular basis, please stop by our front office during operating hours for a volunteer application and to talk with us.  Thank you!

Jessie Adopted!

Our longest canine resident struck gold with a loving new family with herding dog experience.  Initial reports are good and Jessie will soon be in Dog-e-Mom dog training classes with her new guardians.

Final Two Katrina Survivors Now Heartworm Free! (1/11)

The boys survived deadly heartworms, presumably contracted in the filthy water and wreckage of post-hurricane New Orleans, thanks to multiple treatments at the adjacent Dewey Animal Hospital during the past two months.  We are euphoric because their survival was not a foregone conclusion, due to the intensity of the treatments and the heartworms.

[Note: Paris has been adopted!]

Batman is a feisty and playful boy, a Heinz 57 mix with large, expressive ears.

They survived for weeks in the flooded city, so our best guess is that their strong bond helped them survive, particularly Batman, who came to us with numerous scars.  They could make a good pair, but we are not requiring that they be adopted together because Paris has made more progress temperament-wise.  Please contact Doug at nevadaspca@aol.com if you're a volunteer willing to help escort Batman through Dog-e-Mom Dog Training on Saturday mornings.
