Encouraging Kind Minds
Nevada SPCA has been steadily expanding its humane education programs for the past 9 years, reaching students and people of all ages with messages of compassion, respect, and appreciation for animals.
The heart of our messages is that adoption is forever and that adopted animals are loving members of the family, not ornaments or decorations or temporary toys.
Daisy Finds A Forever Home
This beautiful children's book, written by teacher Linda Gannon with illustrations by Ron Clement DeLelles, tells the uplifting story of a Beagle rescued from the streets who finds a new life with a caring, loving owner.
It is the first book in the Encouraging Kind Minds series and we are planning on annual additional books for kids.
The book is free to teachers, principals, and school libraries. It is available for a suggested donation of $10 at special events and at Nevada SPCA headquarters.
Nevada SPCA Humane Education Workbooks
We distribute acclaimed, 24-page workbooks to children, students, libraries, classrooms, and youth groups upon request, at no charge.

Humane Education Presentations
Volunteer teachers and others regularly speak to classrooms (or at assemblies or other functions) and bring a rescued animal ambassador to emphasize concepts. We work hard to attend every school (or function) invitation. The presentations are free. Please make humane education presentation requests through email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Tours of Nevada SPCA Headquarters
Tours generally last up to one hour and include educational sections on cats, dogs, rabbits, other species, adoption, training, and rehabilitation. These require a lot of work and gathering of volunteers to assist, so we ask that you try to organize the tours as part of a large school or other youth group function and make requests by email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) at least 3 weeks in advance. The tours are free.
